Botox Side Effects and Botox Alternatives

Is Botox Safe?

Botox can be safe for many people, but injections are painful. And according to WebMD, the following side effects have been reported, and are serious enough to require a doctor’s care. Before you seek botox injections, please let your doctor know about your health history, and also, make sure you aware of possible botox side effects.

Because this medication is given at the site of your condition, most of the side effects occur close to where the medication is injected. Redness, bruising, infection, and pain at the injection site may occur.

Dizziness, difficulty swallowing, respiratory infections such as cold or flu, pain, nausea, headache, and muscle weakness may occur when this medication is used to relax muscles. Double vision, drooping or swollen eyelid, eye irritation, dry eyes, tearing, reduced blinking, and increased sensitivity to light may also occur.

In addition, people with medical problems should check with their doctor, as botox may not be a safe alternative for them. The indgredients are actually toxins that paralyze facial muscles, giving the face a more relaxed look so wrinkles do not show. Botox may work for you, but personally, I’d rather keep my laugh lines!

On the other hand, I am a big fan of topical treatments that relax (not paralyze) facial muscles, and also hydrate the skin and encourage new skin cell production. Look at Natural Wrinkle Cream: Better than Botox for more information on these topical, painless solutions.
