Probiotic Supplements for Digestive Health

I have usually had one of those iron stomachs. Seasonal allergies, yes. But belly aches. No, not really. However, members of my family have been plagued by mysterious bouts of belly pain, constipation, and food sensitivity. The problems can really make them miserable, and it has always been a mystery to me why some people in the family are very regular on the same diet that makes others miserable.
The over the counter medicines that had been suggested provided very little, or no, relief. And of course, we could trace the problems to eating some types of food….sometimes. But even when those foods were avoided, some problems would pop up. I put that down to going out in the world and eating foods that are prepared in school lunches or restaurants, where we do not always know all of the additives or ingredients that are used.
But then I read about probiotic supplements for digestive health. The good bacteria that live in our digestive system can be thrown out of whack by an illness, or even by the medicines we take to get over an illness. This natural supplement adds back the “good” bacteria which helps with digestion, and even the production of important vitamins and enzymes. For instance, an inablity to digest milk properly can be caused by the lack of important enzymes, and it can be all because the “good” bacteria have been thrown out of whack.
Now, if you have a serous food allergy, work with your doctor! But if some foods just cause gas or bloating or constipation, look for some help with a probiotic supplement.
